Red Bull Junior Team Adds Rising Stars Chiara Bättig and Mattia Colnaghi to 2025 Line-up

Salzburg, Austria (20 Aug 2025) – The Red Bull Junior Team has signed two exciting young drivers, marking a major investment in the next generation of racing talent. Swiss prospect Chiara Bättig (15) and Italian-Argentinian racer Mattia Colnaghi (17) will both join the iconic academy, as the programme strengthens its roster for the road to Formula One.

Bättig joins after impressing during the recent Red Bull Driver Search in Portugal — her first-ever outing in single-seater machinery after a karting career. She will take the step into F4 in 2026, hoping to blaze a trail for young female racers.

“It means a lot to me to be a Red Bull Junior Driver,” said Bättig. “My goal is to reach Formula 1 and become World Champion, and I hope to inspire other young girls in karting to follow the same path.”

Red Bull Motorsport Consultant Dr. Helmut Marko praised her debut, noting the “very good speed” she displayed fresh from karting.

Meanwhile, Colnaghi continues his meteoric rise through the ranks after winning six races and clinching the Spanish F4 Championship in his rookie season. The teenager currently leads the Eurocup-3 standings and is scheduled to move up to FIA Formula 3 in 2026.

“Being selected means I now have the pathway to achieving my dream of becoming Formula One World Champion with Red Bull,” said Colnaghi.

Dr. Marko stated the expectations are high: “Mattia is a frontrunner already and as he moves towards F3, our target is always to fight for championships.”

The Red Bull Junior Team was established in 2001 and has helped develop 22 Formula One drivers to date, including current Red Bull Racing stars Max Verstappen, Yuki Tsunoda, Liam Lawson and Isack Hadjar.
